CMI has included cost, service, quality and carbon emissions in supply chain management. Blending carbon emission targets to supply chain management, CMI establishes a low-carbon green supply chain to minimize carbon footprint and thereby enhance the competitive strength of low-carbon products.
An effective supplier management system, a green component database IT platform, and a complete, transparent and real-time green supply chain platform are established for suppliers to obtain in real time the latest CMI specifications, international environmental legislations and specifications of world-leading manufacturers, so that the environmental undertaking of suppliers is consistent with that of CMI. Also, the material undertaking process is established to ensure that the materials from suppliers conform to the regulatory, CMI and customer requirements.
In 2010, CMI initiated GHG inventory and product carbon footprint training to more than 230 suppliers. In 2011, CMI will request major suppliers to complete the verification and gradually systematize supplier GHG management and product carbon footprint inventory, in order to help suppliers to collect, calculate and assess risk and carbon reduction opportunities more effectively with the said systems, and thereby develop a low-carbon supply chain in collaboration with suppliers.
